About me

Jorge is a graduate from the University of Pikeville where he received his Bachelor’s degree in Communications and played Div. II soccer. His deep passion for communications had him focused on the intersection of technology, social media, and business. Increasing brand awareness through social media strategies, marketing campaigns, public relations, and customer relation management was the focus of his education and internships.
As for work experience, Jorge was a Customer Service Representative for Koodo (an international cell phone provider), where his responsibilities involved resolving customer complaints via phone, email, and social media. During his studies, Jorge participated in an internship with the State of Kentucky at the council of post-secondary education; while there he assisted with communications efforts & outreach strategic initiatives with the purpose of reaching the Hispanic community through social media.
Jorge’s tremendous organizational skills come from his prior education as a certified flight instructor and a commercial pilot. His responsibilities at his current work at SBC include supporting the efforts of the President and coordinating all aspects of support for the Research Department. Jorge is accountable for all aspects of project management and office administration including the development of seminar materials and coordination of an online survey tool (OOZEit). His vast knowledge of developing marketing pieces, Photoshop skills, and managing social media as well as his fluency in both Spanish and English make Jorge a vital part of the SBC team.
